Fixed Fee Lawyers: How It Works
Legal help shouldn’t come with a taxi meter running. The Legal Shop quotes most pieces of work as a fixed fee before we start, so you can decide about your legal spend the way you decide about any other business cost: with the full price in front of you.
What does “fixed fee” actually mean?
It means the price we quote is the price you pay for the work we’ve scoped. If the scope of what you need changes along the way, we tell you first and agree a new fixed fee before doing anything extra. You will never open an invoice and be surprised.
How do you work out the quote?
- Tell us what you need. Book a free consultation or send an enquiry describing your business and the problem or document.
- We scope the work. We work out exactly what your business needs: sometimes that’s less than you expected, and we’ll say so.
- You get one written quote. The fixed fee, what it covers, and how long it will take (usually within 5 working days per document).
- You decide. No obligation, no pressure. The quote is free.
What kind of work do we quote fixed fees for?
- Contract reviews of agreements you’ve been asked to sign.
- Drafting commercial contracts, website terms, privacy policies and IT and SaaS agreements.
- Structure advice and company set up.
- Trade mark searches and applications.
- Lease reviews and business sales and purchases.
In short: all our core services. If something genuinely can’t be fixed-fee quoted (it’s rare), we tell you upfront and agree how it will be charged before anything starts.
Frequently asked questions
Is the first consultation really free?
Yes. The first chat is free and no-obligation. It’s how we scope your quote, and it’s also your chance to decide whether we’re the right fit.
What if the work turns out to be bigger than expected?
That’s our risk to manage, not yours. If the scoped work takes longer than we thought, the price doesn’t change. If you ask for something outside the agreed scope, we quote the addition as a new fixed fee before doing it.
How do I get a quote?
Book a free consultation or use the enquiry form, tell us what your business does and what you need, and we’ll come back with a written fixed fee quote.
